Speech You wake up to the sound of your alarm going off and think to yourself, ‘how is it already time to get up?!” You swear you literally just woke up. “Why must school start so early!?” You sigh. Does this sound like a typical morning for you? I can safely say that most of us experience the pain of a school morning. This is because school starts too early. Hi, I’m Elsie and today I’m here to persuade you as to why school should start later in the morning opposed to earlier. First, students need to get their sleep. According to nationalwidechildrens.org children are only getting around or less than 7 hours of sleep when studies show students need exactly 9 and a half hours of sleep to get the recommended hours of snoozing. So, if we do the math here, most pupils get to school at around 8:20am and we all leave school at 2:50pm, resulting in us getting home between 3pm and 4pm if you were to go home straight after school. I was born Christchurch and have lived here for almost 5 years; I lived in Christchurch for the first 2 years of my life, moved away then moved back almost 3 years ago. Q2.
